Welcome

The San Diego Promise is a two-year completion program for recent high school graduates enrolled full-time (12 units per semester). The program provides up to two years of free tuition to eligible students. Participation in the Promise program comes with a variety of benefits: an assigned peer mentor/success coach, specialized counseling and guidance support, and additional campus engagement opportunities.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PROMISE SCHOLARSHIP?

Photo of SD Promise studentsNew students participating in Promise for 2018-19 will receive the following:

  • In-State tuition and health fees will be covered for Fall and Spring. Note: Student Parking and Student Rep Fees are not included.

  • Individualized support to help you complete your educational goals.

  • Assigned a Peer Advocate

  • Individualized counseling and guidance support

  • Priority consideration for transfer to SDSU

*Students who meet program requirements in their first year may be eligible for free tuition in their second year.

For students in the 2017-18 cohort who are continuing in Promise for 2018-19, a $250 book grant will also be provided for the year.


WHAT HAPPENS IF I ACCIDENTALLY PAID MY FEES?

Please contact your Promise Coordinator if you paid your fees. As a Promise student you are awarded a scholarship that will cover your tuition and fees after any eligible financial aid has been applied to your account.


WHAT CAN I PURCHASE AT THE BOOKSTORE?

Use of your Promise book grant is limited to textbooks and access codes for course required materials.


WHAT IF THE BOOK I NEED IS NOT AVAILABLE AT THE BOOKSTORE?

Photo of Promise StudentsFirst, verify that the book is not available at the bookstore with bookstore staff. If a course required book is not available at the bookstore, contact your Promise Coordinator. They will provide you with a reimbursement form. You will need to purchase the book or course materials yourself, and will be reimbursed by the Promise program.
